An 18-year-old Orlando man was killed on Sunday evening after his motorcycle rear-ended a car on Semoran Boulevard.

The fatal collision occurred at around 8:10 p.m. on Sunday, December 29, near the intersection of Semoran Boulevard and Oleander Drive, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The report stated that two vehicles – a 2008 Kawasaki ZZR600 motorcycle and 2021 BMW 330i sedan – were both traveling southbound on Semoran Boulevard, south of the Oleander Drive intersection, in the outside lane.

The BMW was in front of the motorcycle when its driver, identified in the report as a 73-year-old Orlando woman, began to slow for the traffic ahead.

As the motorcycle approached the BMW, the 18-year-old rider “failed to slow,” and the front of the motorcycle proceeded to strike the rear of the sedan.

The motorcyclist was transported to AdventHealth East Orlando, where he was pronounced deceased. The report mentioned that he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The elderly driver and sole occupant of the BMW was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation, according to FHP.
