A woman was killed on Tuesday morning after her car collided with a semi-truck on State Road 520 in Orange County.

According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the fatal crash occurred at around 5 a.m. on Tuesday, January 7, shortly after a semi-truck exited eastbound State Road 528 onto State Road 520.

FHP stated that the semi-truck stopped at a stop sign before proceeding onto the paved median area in an attempt to turn left onto State Road 520. While turning, the semi-truck’s trailer blocked the eastbound travel lanes of State Road 520.

At the same time, a 2023 Toyota Corolla was heading eastbound on State Road 520, under the State Road 528 overpass, in the outside lane. The driver and sole occupant, a 24-year-old Palm Bay woman, did not see the semi-truck that was blocking the lane.

As a result, the front of the car struck the left rear side of the semi-truck’s trailer.

The car’s driver was transported to Orlando Health Emergency Room – Randal Park in Orlando, where she was pronounced deceased.

The driver and sole occupant of the semi-truck, a 61-year-old Orlando man, was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation, according to FHP.
