Detectives are investigating an apparent attempted murder-suicide in Volusia County that left a man dead and his wife wounded early Saturday morning.
According to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to Carol Ann Drive in Edgewater at around 12:15 a.m. on Saturday, January 11, in reference to shots being fired.
When deputies arrived on scene, they found man who was deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.
The man’s wife had also been shot, and she was transported to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries.
“The initial information reported is that a woman was injured when her husband shot her, then himself,” said VCSO in a social media post on Saturday morning.
No further details regarding what led to the shooting were released by law enforcement.
A thorough investigation into the fatal shooting remains active and ongoing, according to VCSO.
