Janet Florence Larsen, age 88, of Orlando, Florida passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2024.
She was born in Auburndale, WI on January 9, 1936 to parents William and AIma (Kroh) Gotz. She moved with her family to Marshfield, WI when her parents purchased a dairy farm there. Janet attended and graduated from Marshfield High school in 1955 and graduated from St Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing in May, 1958. She went on to marry the love of her life, Howard Larsen, on April 30, 1960.
Most of her nursing career was focused on industrial nursing where she worked at the paper mill in Wisconsin Rapids, S&C Electric in Chicago and a construction company of high-rise office buildings in Downtown Chicago Loop. After moving from Chicago in 1972 to Dallas, Texas and in 1975 to Orlando Florida she continued to work for businesses and corporations including Lakeland Orange Growers, Marriott hotels and other corporations in Dallas, Texas and Orlando, Florida. Her nursing career concluded with processing workmen’s compensation claims.
Janet loved to work and loved to play as she enjoyed going to concerts and restaurants. While she never ate very much, she enjoyed collecting menus and memorabilia from the restaurants that she visited. She enjoyed talking to her family and spending time with her two brothers, four brothers-in-law, three sisters and three sisters-in-law when they had family get togethers in locations around the United States. Janet had an infectious laugh and smile that helped her create lasting friendships in Wisconsin Rapids, Chicago, Illinois and Orlando, Florida. Janet was a Catholic all of her life, attending Mass every Sunday, working in the church store and food bank and practicing charity with a generous heart.
Janet is preceded in d1eath by her parents; her husband, Howard Larsen; brother, Clarence Gotz; sisters,. Helen Ivanoff and Mary Handrick; sisters-in-law, Theresa Gotz and Helen Gotz. She is survived by her daughter, Nicole Larsen of Orlando, FL; Sheela Schermetzler (James) of Spearfish, SD; brother, Ronald Gotz of Marshfield, WI; brother-in-law, Glen Larsen (Mary Lou) of Seattle, WA and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
