A 39-year-old Winter Park was indicted last week on multiple counts of producing material depicting the sexual abuse of children.

On Thursday, January 16, 2025, U.S. Attorney Roger B. Handberg announced the return of an indictment charging David Andrew Ogden with five counts of production of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and one count of possession of CSAM.

The indictment alleges that in September of 2022, and on multiple occasions between June and September of 2024, Ogden “used or attempted to use a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct” for the purpose of recording video footage of the acts.

Additionally, in September of 2024, Ogden was allegedly caught with additional child pornography in his possession.

An indictment is merely a formal charge that a defendant has committed one or more violations of federal criminal law. Every defendant is presumed innocent unless, and until, proven guilty.

If Ogden is convicted, he faces a minimum penalty of 15 years, up to 30 years, in federal prison for each of the production charges, along with up to 20 years behind bars for the possession count.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Winter Park Police Department. It will be prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Megan Testerman.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
