A Volusia County mother and her boyfriend were arrested after they allegedly left their two-year-old child in their car while they drank inside a local bar.
According to the Edgewater Police Department, 35-year-old Kristina Vitucci and her boyfriend, 39-year-old Joshua Harris, parked their car outside Jan & Lib’s Hi-Tops Lounge (319 N Ridgewood Avenue in Edgewater) on Monday, January 28.
Vitucci and Harris then allegedly left their two-year-old in an unlocked vehicle, which was not running, as they went inside the bar. VCSO stated that the couple then proceeded to enjoy some drinks at the bar for nearly two hours while their child remained in the vehicle.
The arrest report stated that the toddler was screaming and crying inside the vehicle. In addition, the child was not wearing suitable clothing for the weather.
The couple was placed under arrest and transported to Volusia County Jail early the following morning on a child neglect charge. They are both currently being held at the jail on a $5,000 bond.
Volusia County court records show that Vitucci is scheduled to be arraigned at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 18, and a separate arraignment hearing for Harris is set for the same time on Tuesday, February 25.
