A woman sustained life-threatening injuries on Thursday afternoon after her car collided with a dump truck in Volusia County.

According to the DeLand Police Department, officers responded to the 1500 block of South State Road 15A in DeLand at around 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 6, after receiving reports of a crash.

DPD stated that a preliminary investigation revealed that a red sedan was exiting the parking lot of a business located at 1590 South State Road 15A. As the vehicle entered the roadway, it struck a dump truck that was traveling southeast on the thoroughfare.

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene of the crash, and its Air One helicopter transported the car’s female driver to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach.

No other injuries were reported.

Due to the crash, State Road 15A was closed for several hours. The roadway has since reopened.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation, according to DeLand police.
