A pedestrian was killed on Wednesday evening after he was struck by a car while attempting to cross a roadway in Osceola County.
The crash occurred at around 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12, near the intersection of U.S. Highway 192 and Druid Way, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
FHP stated that a 2016 Acura TLX was heading eastbound on U.S. Highway 192, west of Druid Way, in the inside lane. An unmarked Osceola County Sheriff’s Office patrol car was traveling directly behind the Acura in the same lane.
Moments before the crash, an adult male pedestrian stepped off the center median and attempted to cross the roadway. A trooper noted that the man was not in a marked crosswalk when he began walking towards the eastbound outside shoulder.
The front right section of the Acura proceeded to hit the pedestrian. The OCSO patrol car was then struck by debris from the collision, according to the report.
The pedestrian sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.
The two drivers involved – a 42-year-old St. Cloud man (Acura) and 36-year-old Kissimmee woman (OCSO patrol car) – were not injured and remained on-scene.
The crash remains under investigation, according to FHP.
