Shimako “Neddy” Allison, passed away peacefully at home on March 11, 2025, at the age of 90. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend who touched the lives of many with her quiet kindness, joyous spirit, and impeccable style.

Shimako was born on December 29, 1934 in Okinawa, Japan. She grew up in a time of hardship but always showed remarkable resilience. After marrying the love of her life in 1959, she moved to the United States and devoted her time to learning everything about our country.

Neddy was a proud Japanese-American dedicated to her family. The door to her home was always open, and was a place of comfort, warmth, and laughter, filled with the love she gave so freely and her beloved dogs. Outside of her home, she was an avid bingo player, enjoying the game multiple times a week. Shimako was also an active member of the Orlando bowling community, competing for many years and then being an observer and exuberant cheerleader for her husband, children, and grandchildren for the rest of her life.

Shimako is survived by her husband of 66 years, Gerald “Jerry” Allison; children, Richard Allison, Cynthia Allison, Susan Allison; grandchildren, Jonathan, Christopher, Nichelle, Amanda, Derek, Tierra, Danielle, Brett, Jasmine, and Jaheim, and 9 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her sister Hishako Kinjo Lewis and her mother Misae Kinjo.

May Shimako’s spirit rest in peace, and may her memory live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.

A gathering of family and friends for Neddy will be held Sunday, March 16, 2025 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Baldwin-Fairchild East Altamonte, 994 E Altamonte Dr, Altamonte Springs, Florida 32701, followed by a memorial service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. A reception will follow the service.
