A 38-year-old man was arrested on a murder charge in connection with the stabbing death of his elderly father inside an Orlando home.
On Thursday, April 3, at around 6:45 a.m., Orlando Police Department officers responded to a home located in the 9400 block of Candice Court in reference to a stabbing incident.
When officers arrived at the residence, they found a male victim, identified as 70-year-old Meb G. Yohan, who had sustained multiple lacerations. He was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.
A homicide investigation was launched by OPD, and the victim’s son – identified as 38-year-old Almeb Y. Gebreyohannes – was quickly identified as a suspect, according to police.
Gebreyohannes was placed under arrest without incident, and he was transported to Orange County Jail. He is being charged with second-degree murder with a weapon.
The homicide investigation remains ongoing, according to Orlando police.
OPD stated that in 2014, Gebreyohannes was shot by police when he charged officers while wielding a baseball bat. The original call for service, which prompted the arrival of law enforcement, was regarding threats made by Gebreyohannes to “kill his mother.”
The police department further shared that in 2022, Gebreyohannes was Tased after he produced a knife and threatened to stab an officer. Law enforcement had responded to the incident location after receiving a call from Meb G. Yohan claiming that his son, Gebreyohannes, had “choked and battered him.”
