It is with heartfelt sadness that we share the passing of our beloved father, David Charles Young, who left us on February 28th, 2025 at the age of 89. He was the husband of the late Phyliss (Shoales) Young of South Attleboro who passed on August 3, 2004.
Dave and Phyliss were high school sweethearts who graduated from Attleboro High School class of 1954. He was the running back for the football team. Dave enjoyed most sports, particularly golf as well as softball and surfing.
Dave joined the U.S. Air Force where he devoted 20 years and retired at the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. He and his family were stationed throughout the United States and Pacific including Guam, Japan, Hawaii as well as 6 states. Dave’s love of the Hawaiian islands was fostered by his 5-year tour at Hickam AFB on the island of Oahu. After retiring he made several return trips to the islands to visit long time friends and golf the many islands with his loving friend, Lucille. Following a successful career in the Air Force, Dave followed up with a strong second career as a manager with Telex Computer Products.
Dave is survived by his brother, Dick and his wife Doreen of Sarasota, Fl., his sons Steve of Weirton, W.V., Gregg of Winter Springs, Fl., Gary of Starkville, Ms., and Rob of Casselberry, Fla. as well as 6 granddaughters and 6 great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the funeral service on Monday May 12th, 2025 at 8:30 a.m. at the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home located at 20 Peck St. Attleboro. The burial at Newell Cemetery, South Attleboro will take place at 11am following the memorial service.
