Angelina Rapasardi Newell passed away peacefully on Monday, April 14, 2025. She was 96.
Angelina was born in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, and spent her childhood working with her parents and siblings on the family’s sheep ranch in Western Colorado.
Angelina left home at 18 and worked as a waitress, traveling across the United States with her sister Mary. She met and married her husband, Airman Peter (Pete) Newell, in 1951 and quickly grew to love life as a military wife. She and Pete enjoyed the myriad of duty stations and moving across the country with their children, James (Jim) and Deanna. They settled in Orlando, Florida, in 1968 when Pete retired from the Air Force.
Angelina was a devoted mother, loving friend, fabulous cook, and devout Roman Catholic. She had a gift for comforting others and always made time to listen or pray for those in need. She had a special bond with Deanna’s friends-Maureen, Marina, and Marsha-whom she considered her own daughters.
Angelina enjoyed entertaining, cooking, gardening, walking, and drinking coffee with her family and friends. She was strong-willed and hardworking. She loved spending time with her family and friends, her cat Spring, granddogs Cheyenne and Breeze, and grandcat Brindle. Angelina is survived by her daughter, Deanna Newell, son-in-law Thomas (Tom) Elam, nieces Beverly Eberle, Margie Ann Foster, Darlene Scott, and nephew Richard Eberle.
She is predeceased by her husband Peter Newell, son James Newell, parents Angelo and Concetta Rapasardi, brothers Asprino Rapasardi and Mike Rapasardi, and Jim Rapasardi, and sisters Anna Favre, Jennie Kruml and Mary Cummings.
