An Orlando woman recently claimed a $1 million prize from a $50 scratch-off lottery ticket she bought at a local Shell gas station.
On Monday, May 5, the Florida Lottery announced that Jessica Montalvo, 48, headed to its Orlando district office to claim the $1 million prize from the 500X THE CASH scratch-off game.
While at the district office, Montalvo opted to receive her winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $640,000.
Montalvo purchased her winning scratch-off ticket from the Shell gas station located at 2924 Corrine Drive in Orlando. The retailer received a bonus commission, in the amount of $2,000, for selling the winning ticket.
The 500X THE CASH scratch-off game costs $50 per ticket, and it features a top prize of $25 million, which is the largest ever offered by a Florida Lottery scratch-off game. With over $1.6 billion in total cash prizes, the game’s overall odds of winning are 1-in-4.23, according to lottery officials.
There have been several big winners in recent weeks, including an Orlando resident who turned $30 into $1 million thanks to a scratch-off lottery ticket that was purchased from a local convenience store.
