An Osceola County code enforcement officer was arrested after she was allegedly caught on video stealing a package that had been delivered to a local residence.

On Wednesday, May 7, Osceola County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 5000 block of Maple Tree Lane in St. Cloud in reference to a theft incident. The victim informed law enforcement that a package containing a $600 cellphone had been delivered to her property and stolen by a local code enforcement officer, according to OCSO.

“The code enforcement officer’s actions were captured on the (victim’s) surveillance cameras,” said the sheriff’s office in a social media post.

Detectives viewed the video footage, which allegedly showed a uniformed code enforcement officer, identified as 37-year-old Vanessa Ramon, arriving at the property in a white county-owned pickup truck.

According to OCSO, Ramon was then observed on the video footage removing a package that was laying near the main door of a camper on the property. She then allegedly tossed the package into the bed of her truck before driving away from the incident location.

After speaking with code enforcement officials, detectives were able to positively identify Ramon as the alleged package thief. Detectives further confirmed that taking the package was “not part of (Ramon’s) official duties.”

Ramon was placed under arrest and transported to Osceola County Jail. She is being charged with grand theft, which is a third-degree felony.
