An unlicensed roofer was arrested for allegedly stealing $30,000 from two customers in Volusia County.
On Saturday, May 17, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office arrested Andrew Robert Ingram, 44, of Edgewater-based Busy Bee Roofing, on several warrants, according to VCSO.
Back in November of 2024, Ingram allegedly accepted a $21,000 deposit from a customer/victim in Port Orange. The sheriff’s office stated that these funds were intended to go toward a new roof.
However, Ingram allegedly never applied for a permit, and he failed to deliver materials or show up on any of his promised start dates. The victim demanded a refund after receiving several excuses from Ingram.
The victim told investigators that they never heard from Ingram again. A warrant was issued for Ingram’s arrest on the following charges: scheme to defraud and grand theft.
During an investigation, VCSO learned that Ingram had allegedly stolen $9,000 from another customer/victim in Edgewater, and an additional warrant was issued for Ingram’s arrest.
Following his arrest, Ingram was booked into Volusia County Jail, where he is currently being held on a $55,000 bond. He is being charged with organized scheme to defraud (over $20,000), two counts of grand theft, and obtaining property by fraud (less than $20,000).
VCSO detectives believe that there may be additional victims. If you believe that you are a victim of Ingram’s alleged practices, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office asks that you call its Financial Crimes Unit at 386-254-1537.
