Julio Raul Pabón, age 79, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 15, 2025 in Orlando, Florida. He was born July 1, 1945 in Coracora, Peru to Carlos Alfonso Pabon y Zoila Modesta Salas.
He grew up in a vibrant community with his 7 siblings, Carlos, Betty, Carolina, Lita, Tito, and Pocho, in the Andes mountains. He completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at Universidad Nacional Federico Villarreal in Lima, Peru. At the age of 26, he moved to the US and laid his roots in Massachusetts for over 50 years.
He married Lucrecia Pazos on May 24, 1975 and had 2 children. Initially he served as a journalist and supported the roll-out of the popular Spanish-speaking New England newspaper, El Mundo Boston. He then became a celebrated Community Services Director and Department Head for a large human service nonprofit in New England, Action for Boston Community Development, for over 20 years.
He was deeply involved in matters of the City to help improve the quality of life for all in Boston and beyond. Julio Raul was an authentic person and not afraid to share his thoughts and ideas to help others. He was also a talented self-starter, ambitious, fun-loving, passionate, and thirsty for knowledge. His children and grandchildren especially loved his silly side, which he fully embraced in his later years.
He is survived by his daughter, Ingrid and her child Lucia; son Eric and his children Kamaya and Aiyla; and several siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Family, friends, and others who appreciated Julio Raul are invited to celebrate his life at the Sons of Mary, 567 Salem End Rd, Framingham, MA 01702, at 1pm on Sunday, June 1, 2025.
