Luis R. De Leon Jr., born on March 24,1965 in the Bronx, NY and entered into eternal rest on May 19, 2025. A loving father, devoted grandfather, and faithful Christian, Luis touched countless lives with his warmth, humor, and unwavering generosity.
He was born to Haydee Ramirez and Luis R. De Leon Sr., and later raised by his stepfather Carlos Santana after the early passing of his father. Luis was the second oldest among his siblings: Wanda Santiago, Ruben De Leon, Samuel De Leon, Pedro Cedeno, Johanna Drost, Joshua Cedeno, Christine Cedeno, and Javier Santana.
Luis married Christine De Leon in 1987. Together, they had three children: Amanda De Leon, Kathryn De Leon, and Luis R. De Leon Jr. II, who sadly passed away at birth. Though Luis and Christine separated around 2000, they remained legally married and maintained a bond through their children and shared memories. Luis also raised John Perez, Christine’s son from a previous relationship, as his own.
In 2001, Luis met Mary Scott. Their partnership spanned two decades, during which Luis embraced Mary’s son, Patrick Owen, and together they had two sons: Luis R. De Leon Jr. III in 2002, and Antonio De Leon in 2007.
Professionally, Luis worked tirelessly in several roles, including as a limousine driver, in public transportation, and in IT, before retiring due to disability. Despite health challenges, he continued to serve his church and community with dedication and heart.
Luis had a deep love for music and painting, and cherished every moment spent with his family. His presence brought laughter, joy, and inspiration to all who knew him. He had a unique gift for making others feel seen, heard, and loved.
He is survived by his children: Amanda, Kathryn, John, Luis III, and Antonio; his beloved grandchildren: Victoria Piecyk and Amia De Leon (Amanda), and Eric Jr., Jayden, Nathalia, Xianeliz, Juliana, and Gianelle (Kathryn).
Luis R. De Leon’s legacy is one of love, service, and faith. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered by his family, friends, and community.
