A 56-year-old man was killed in Orange County on Saturday after his motorcycle veered off an entrance ramp to State Road 417 and collided with a tree.
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the fatal crash occurred at around 5:50 p.m. on Saturday, May 31, on the entrance ramp to SR 417 from westbound State Road 528.
FHP stated that the motorcyclist “failed to negotiate a curve” in the roadway, which caused the vehicle to run off the ramp and down an embankment.
Moments later, the motorcycle crashed into a tree.
The motorcycle’s rider and sole occupant sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. A trooper noted in the report that the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
The crash remains under investigation, according to FHP.
