A multi-vehicle crash in Seminole County left one passenger dead and four others injured on Saturday morning.
The fatal accident occurred shortly before 9:15 a.m. on Saturday, June 7, at the intersection of State Road 46 and Mullet Lake Park Road. It involved three vehicles: a 2018 Ram 2500 (pickup truck), a 2024 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter (van), and a 2020 Cadillac XT6 (SUV), according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
The report stated that the van was traveling westbound on State Road 46, ahead of the pickup truck, near the Mullet Lake Park Road intersection. The SUV was heading eastbound on State Road 46.
The driver of the pickup truck, a 36-year-old Geneva woman, briefly entered the oncoming lane while attempting to pass the van. However, the woman observed that the SUV was approaching, and her pickup truck swerved back into the westbound lane, according to the report.
Moments later, the front right section of the pickup truck crashed into the van’s rear left section. The initial impact then caused the pickup truck to veer into the eastbound lane, where it collided head-on with the SUV before leaving the roadway and catching fire.
A trooper noted that the pickup truck’s driver sustained minor injuries. The van’s driver, a 46-year-old Sanford man, was not hurt.
Three of the SUV’s occupants – a 43-year-old DeBary man (driver), 67-year-old Ohio woman (passenger), and 29-year-old DeBary woman (passenger) – were transported to a local hospital. The two passengers were in serious condition, while the driver’s injuries were described as “minor.”
A third passenger in the SUV, a 68-year-old man from Ohio, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation, according to FHP.
