Inez Clarke (Sinclair) was born in Spanish Town, Jamaica on June 8th 1939, to Owen Constantine Sinclair and Loretta Gayle. She was the sixth of six children, three of which predeceased her, including her parents.

In her youth she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was always by her mother’s side, and enjoyed traveling to the countryside with her father. Out of high school she worked for a law firm and subsequently worked for Remco as a bookkeeper.

In 1966, Inez was sponsored to come to the United States. She began working in New York as a nanny for a family with two small children. Then she took a position as a bookkeeper for Biddle Purchasing Company. In 1968, through a mutual friend she met her husband of 55 years Lenville Lancelot Clarke, whom she married in 1969. They began their life together in Queens. In September 1972 she gave birth to her first child, then 15 months later, in December 1973, her second child was born. After they were born she sacrificed her career to be a stay at home Mom.

In 1981, Lance and Inez decided to move their small family to the Orlando area in Florida, to make a better life for their children. She continued to be a stay at home Mom until her children became teenagers. In 1983, before she rejoined the workforce, she attended Seminole Community College to strengthen her skills. On her first job interview the manager said, “the way you present yourself and speak, I must hire you!” This led to her resuming her career, working as a secretary in the mortgage division for Great Western Bank, which later became Washington Mutual, until she retired in 2004. During her retirement she loved to travel and visit
with family and friends.

Inez was a God fearing woman who deeply loved the Lord. She raised her children in the church and instilled that belief system in them as well.

Many have described her as, “the sweetest person I know.” She always had a smile on her face and a positive word to share. It was not uncommon to find her shopping at the market or mall, and saying hello to any and everyone. However, Inez was not a pushover. She was a strong woman who would stand up for what is right.

Inez went home to be with the Lord while in hospice at home. She transitioned peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, June 1st, 2025.

Inez is survived by her husband Lenville Clarke, her children Robert Clarke (Kimbra) and Debbie Clarke, her grandchildren Jared Clarke (Laura), Morgan Clarke, and Corey Sheppard, her unborn great grandchild Jasmine Joy Clarke, her sister and best friend Vernes Hayles, her brother Hubert Sinclair, in addition to a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, godchildren, and many dear friends.

The family will receive relatives and friends at 1:00 pm. On Saturday, June 14, 2025, for a funeral at Winter Oak Funeral Home and Cremations, 1132 E. Plant St. Winter Garden, FL 34787.
