In Loving Memory of Angel Luis Figueroa Vaquez. December 22, 1934 – June 10, 2025.
With deep love and sorrow, we announce the passing of Angel Luis Figueroa, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and beloved friend, who passed away on June 10, 2025, at the age of 90.

Angel was born on December 22, 1934, in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. As a teenager, he moved to New York City with his family, carrying with him a strong work ethic, a deep love for family, and a resilient spirit. On September 15, 1956, he married the love of his life, María Izquierdo, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and legacy.
He is survived by his three daughters-Yolanda Figueroa, Wanda Smith, and Brenda Figueroa-his sister Edith Figueroa, nine grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren, all of whom were the joy and pride of his life.

Angel was a successful entrepreneur, becoming a franchise owner of Carey Cadillac. After selling his business, he returned to his roots-his deep love of agriculture and landscaping-where his talents truly flourished. He played an integral role in maintaining the vibrant grounds of the San Juan Convention Center and later became Head Gardener and Landscaping Manager at the Caribe Hilton Hotel, where he led a team of over 25 employees with skill, grace, and leadership.

Even after retiring, Angel never stopped working with his hands and his heart, opening a nursery business that he maintained well into his 80s.
Above all, Angel was a family man. He was known for his legendary cooking, his warm hospitality, and the way he brought everyone together. He loved family dinner outings with his girls-like taking them to Chinatown and Little Italy-always turning dinners into treasured memories. He had an insatiable curiosity for global events-past and present-and enjoyed reading, late-night television, and movies, which kept his sharp mind entertained into the early hours.

Those who knew Angel will remember him as a funny, soft, and kind-hearted man. His presence was steady, and his love was generous. He made people feel welcome, known, and loved-whether through a warm meal, a thoughtful conversation, or a quick-witted joke that caught you off guard.

His legacy lives on in the gardens he grew, the wisdom he shared, and the family he cherished so deeply.

A visitation and memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at DeGusipe Funeral Home, 9001 Orlando Ave, Maitland, FL 32751.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Angel’s memory by planting something beautiful in his name, sharing a meal with someone you love, or simply being kind to others-the way he always was.
