Volusia County detectives are searching for a man who allegedly shot a male victim inside a Deltona home during an argument over how the victim was treating his girlfriend.
According to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a home located in the 1500 block of Flagami Terrace in Deltona on Tuesday, July 1, in reference to a shooting incident. Deputies were informed that the 29-year-old male victim had been brought to a local hospital at around 3:10 a.m. that morning for treatment of a gunshot wound.
An ensuing investigation allegedly revealed that the suspected shooter, identified as 37-year-old Thomas A. Calderon, had gotten into an argument with the victim over how the victim was treating his girlfriend.
During the verbal altercation, Calderon allegedly shot the victim in the “abdominal area.”
Deputies were unable to locate Calderon at the incident location, and a warrant was issued for his arrest on a charge of attempted second-degree murder with a firearm.
Calderon’s current whereabouts are unknown, but VCSO stated that he has connections to the Sanford/Seminole County area.
If anyone has seen Calderon or knows his current location, please contact 911. Do not approach Calderon as he is considered “armed and dangerous.”
The victim is currently hospitalized in critical but stable condition, according to VCSO.
