A single-vehicle crash on State Road 429 in Lake County claimed the life of a 65-year-old Apopka man on Saturday evening.
The fatal accident took place on SR 429, near mile marker 44, at around 7:50 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
An FHP trooper noted in the report that the Apopka man was traveling northbound on SR 429 in a 1996 Honda Civic when his car left the roadway for unknown reasons. The car proceeded to drive onto the median, where it collided with an overpass median pillar.
The Honda’s driver and sole occupant sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, according to the report.
The crash remains under investigation.
