A 35-year-old St. Cloud woman who pleaded guilty to receiving, distributing, and possessing child sexual abuse material will spend more than 12 years in federal prison.
On Thursday, August 7, U.S. District Judge Carlos E. Mendoza sentenced Jessica Corin Mangano to 12 years and 7 months behind bars for distribution, receipt, and possession of child sexual abuse materials.
Mangano pleaded guilty to the charges in late February.
According to court records and evidence presented at the sentencing hearing, Mangano distributed and received videos that depicted the violent sexual abuse of young children, including infants and toddlers.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida stated in a press release that Mangano also distributed images of two children to men that she knew, and she “described her desire to rape these children or watch the men rape [them].”
The Federal Bureau of Investigation investigated this case, with assistance from the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office. During the investigation, a cellphone belonging to Mangano was searched, revealing 81 images and 295 images of child sexual abuse material that were saved to the device.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
