Orlando firefighters rushed to a local apartment complex on Saturday evening after receiving reports of a massive fire.
Shortly before 7 p.m. on Saturday, August 9, Orlando Fire Department units responded to an apartment complex located in the 4600 block of Cason Cove, which is near the Millenia Mall, according to OFD.

When firefighters arrived on-scene, they observed a “heavy fire” in two of the apartments, and the flames were extending into the building’s attic space.

Firefighters quickly entered the building and began attacking the blaze. They also conducted an interior search and determined that the occupants of the affected units had evacuated prior to the arrival of OFD.

There were no injuries reported.
According to OFD, the large fire was visible from downtown Orlando.
“Due to (the fire’s) sheer size and complexity of the incident, a third alarm was requested to bring sufficient resources and personnel to the scene,” said OFD in a social media post.

Firefighters managed to contain and extinguish the flames. A total of 16 units were damaged by the fire.
According to OFD, 18 residents – 15 adults and three children – have been displaced.
One of the affected families has a place to stay, and the American Red Cross is assisting the remaining individuals who were displaced due to the fire.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation, according to OFD.
