Bettye J. Brown was born to the late Charlie J. and Louise Wilson in Headland, Alabama on July 10, 1949.

She moved to Orlando, Florida in 1959. She was a member of Malone COGIC under Bishop Nesbett and Bishop M.L. Sconiers. She attended Jones High School through her junior year and then completed her high school education via homeschool. Bettye met the love of her life, Robert W. Brown, and they were united in holy matrimony on May 21, 1968. Bettye and Robert did not have any biological children, but there was a special connection they shared with Bettye’s younger sister Annie’s daughter, Carla, from a young age.

In the year 2000, Bettye and Robert took Carla into their home and raised her as their own. This act of love reflected Bettye’s giving spirit and her deep belief that family is not only defined by blood, but by the bonds of the heart. Bettye worked faithfully alongside her husband Robert in ministry, helping to build churches throughout Connecticut and taking part in evangelistic outreach with the goal of saving souls and spreading the gospel. Whether through her prayers, her words of encouragement, or her tireless behind the scenes work, Bettye played a vital role in touching lives and pointing people toward Christ. Bettye dearly loved her family and proudly served as the family, matriarch.

She was a constant source of guidance, strength and unconditional love, always ready to lend a helping hand, share wise counsel, or simply listen. Her home was a place where everyone felt welcome, cared for, and uplifted. Outside of ministry, Bettye had a love for cooking, often preparing meals that brought family and friends together around the table. She enjoyed gospel music, tending to her flower garden, and sharing stories that made those around her laugh. Her nurturing nature and steady wisdom made her a source of comfort to many.

She was preceded in death by her parents Charlie J. and Louise Wilson, her three sisters: Gloria D. Johnson, Luewill Marshall, and Annie Wilson. Bettye J. Brown entered into eternal rest on Sunday, August 3, 2025.

She leaves to cherish precious memories to: beloved husband, Robert W. Brown; one daughter, Carla Russell (Johnathan) of Georgia; one grandson, Kingston Russell; one sister, Katherine Tate; one brother, Charlie R. Wilson; one uncle, John D. Tiller of Connecticut; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; beloved godchildren, Victor George Smith, Kervise Walker, Scotticesa Miller, and many more.

Though she has departed to this life, the love she gave, the faith she lived, will continue to bear fruit for generations to come.
