A juvenile suspect was arrested by Daytona Beach over the weekend after allegedly shooting another juvenile in the knee.

On Saturday, August 30, at around 8 p.m., Daytona Beach Police Department officers responded to the 1300 block of N Clyde Morris Boulevard after receiving reports of a shooting incident, according to DBPD.

When officers arrived on-scene, they found a juvenile victim who had sustained a gunshot wound to the right knee. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspected shooter, who is also a juvenile, fled from the incident location prior to the arrival of law enforcement. However, the suspect was later located by officers who had responded to the scene, according to DBPD.

The officers placed the suspect under arrest in connection with the ongoing investigation.

“Due to the ages of those involved, the names of both the victim and the suspect will not be released,” said DBPD in a media release.

No further details were provided by Daytona Beach police as the investigation into the shooting incident remains active.
