Apopka police have arrested two men accused of burglarizing multiple construction sites throughout the city.

According to the Apopka Police Department, a “recent increase” in burglary incidents at local construction sites prompted detectives to conduct surveillance at various locations.

APD stated that the “proactive efforts” from its detectives resulted in the capture of two suspects, identified as 29-year-old Jose Octavio GimenesAutna and 26-year-old Pedro QuihuaJimenez.

Both suspects were allegedly caught stealing 27 rolls of roofing material from a site that was under construction.

GimenesAutna and QuihuaJimenez were both placed under arrest, booked into Orange County Jail, and charged with the following: three counts each of third-degree grand theft from a construction site and four counts each of burglary from an unoccupied structure.

Following the arrests of GimenesAutna and QuihuaJimenez, Apopka police stated that “detectives were able to close out multiple construction site cases and shut down [the suspects’ alleged] crime spree.”

No further details were provided by the police department.
