A 32-year-old man died on Thursday night after he was struck by a pickup truck while attempting to cross Colonial Drive in Orange County.

The fatal accident occurred at around 10:05 p.m. on Thursday, September 18, near the intersection of Colonial Drive and Hodges Boulevard, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

An FHP trooper noted that the pickup truck, a 2015 GMC Sierra, was heading westbound on Colonial Drive, west of Hodges Bouelvard, in the inside lane.

At the same time, the 32-year-old pedestrian was walking northbound when he stepped onto the westbound lanes of Colonial Drive. The report stated that he was not in a marked crosswalk.

Moments later, the pedestrian stepped into the direct path of the pickup truck, resulting in a collision. He sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation, according to FHP.
