On April 19th, 1958, in Chicago, Illinois, Bobby Maurice Smith affectionately known to many as “Bob” or “Smitty” was born to Erma & Hermon Smith who preceded him in death, along with his siblings, Herman Smith, Dennis Smith, Tina Smith and Nadine Smith.
In 1977, Bob graduated from Morgan Park High School and enlisted into the military. He proudly served his country as a Patient Administration Specialist in the United States Army from 1977 to 1987, with four years stationed in Korea. He was honored with the Overseas Ribbon and an Expert Badge in hand grenades and received an honorable discharge upon completion of his service. His love for all things mechanical inspired him to graduate from Lincoln Tech Mechanical School in 1995, a milestone he cherished. Bob continued to work with his hands and heart as a skilled auto diesel mechanic with the United States Postal Services, retiring in 2009. While enjoying the retired life, in 2013 Bob moved to Orlando, Fl. with his daughter “Yunk Yunk” and son-in-law to continue his memories.
He had a special gift for making friends everywhere he went, never meeting a stranger and brought joy and laughter to those around him. His passion for music, cars, and travel was boundless, and he was always eager to share a story.
On Wednesday, September 3rd, 2025, at 11:20pm the songs began, and the angels rejoiced as God called Bob home, after giving his life to Christ.
