A 38-year-old convicted felon from Volusia County was arrested for his alleged involvement in a shooting that wounded another man early Saturday morning.
Shortly after midnight on Saturday, September 27, Volusia County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 2300 block of Old Samsula Road in Port Orange after receiving reports of shots being fired in the area, according to VCSO.
The sheriff’s office stated that an adult male victim had sustained a single gunshot wound to his leg. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment of “non-life-threatening” injuries.
An investigation was launched by VCSO, which revealed that a man, identified as Port Orange resident Jeffrey Ryan Crabtree, had gotten into an altercation with the victim at the incident location. During that altercation, Crabtree allegedly pulled out a firearm and shot the victim in the leg.
No further details were provided by law enforcement.
Crabtree was placed under arrest, and he was booked into Volusia County Jail at 6:14 a.m. on Saturday. He remains in custody without bond, and he is facing the following charges: aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
