An Orlando restaurant specializing in Vietnamese cuisine was forced to temporarily close last week after more than 30 roaches were found during a health inspection.
The restaurant, Little Saigon located at 1106 E Colonial Drive in Orlando, was temporarily closed on Monday, October 6, after failing a health inspection conducted by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.
During the inspection, the restaurant was cited for a dozen violations, including two that were considered high priority.
The inspector’s report notes that 13 live roaches were found throughout the eatery, including seven roaches underneath the cook line. The remaining live roaches were found on a paper towel dispenser, on clean glass plates near the cook line, on the dry storage floor, and near the back entrance to the kitchen.
A total of 20 dead roaches were also found by the inspector.
Other violations cited in the report include puddles of standing water in front of all walk-in coolers, raw shrimp being stored over sweet potatoes in the walk-in cooler, and no soap being provided at a handwashing sink.
Due to these violations, Little Saigon was forced to close its doors. The health inspector returned the following morning, and the restaurant was permitted to reopen after inspection standards were met.
