An 11-year-old Volusia County student was arrested this week after she allegedly wrote a “kill list” at her desk.

According to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, staff members at Riverview Learning Center (100 Osceola Avenue in Ormond Beach) alerted a deputy after a female student “made and announced a ‘kill list’ of 4 names” that she allegedly wrote in a classroom.

When confronted about the written threats, the student allegedly told law enforcement that she was “just playing.”

The student was placed under arrest and charged with making a written threat to kill, which is a second-degree felony. She is also facing an additional charge for violating probation.

No further details were provided by the sheriff’s office.
