GONZALEZ, Isidro, age 86, passed away surrounded by family on Friday, October 17, 2025. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle whose legacy of faith, family, generosity, and service touched countless lives.
Born in Pleasanton, Texas, Isidro was the son of the late Aurelio Gonzalez and Serapia Escobedo Gonzalez. Isidro was preceded in death by his brother Raul Gonzalez and his wife Erna Gonzalez; his sister Aurora (Gore) Gonzalez; his sister Eva Holloway and her husband Charles Holloway.
He is survived by his wife Maria Theresa Ruiz Gonzalez; daughter Aggie Gonzalez Hatch (Doug), their children Daniel Hatch (Jennifer), great-grandson Derecho Hatch, Timothy Hatch (Jenna), and Angelique Hatch; daughter Patty Gonzalez VanDyck (Chris) their children Nolan, Cole and Mia VanDyck; son Joey Gonzalez (Kim) their children Katie Gonzalez Childers (Joel), Megan Gonzalez Hamilton (Ian), Jessie Gonzalez Longbottom (Max); and daughter Cathy Gonzalez Daughety (John). He is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
Isidro attended the University of Texas, Austin, TX and Christian Brothers College, Memphis, TN. He worked as a maintenance engineer for companies in Memphis, TN and Tampa, FL. He was analytical and had tremendous problem-solving abilities. He was very creative in his ability to fix and improve upon a wide variety of machinery.
Isidro was actively involved in the Boy Scout Troop 89 at Nativity Catholic Church. During his son Joey ‘s scouting years he served as an Assistant Scoutmaster. He was awarded the Order of the Arrow. In later years with his grandchildren and son-in-law he served as the chaplain, served on the scout committee, and sat on the Eagle Scout Board.
Isidro’s greatest devotion was his family, second only to a life rooted in faith. He was very supportive of wife, Theresa, and all four children as they earned college degrees. He was a talented high school athlete and encouraged his children to participate in a wide variety of sports. He was committed to helping save lives by regularly donating blood. He also was a Red Cross First Aid Trainer. After retiring from Weyerhaeuser, he enjoyed spending his time researching his family genealogy, completing crossword puzzles and being of service to the Home Makers of Hope charitable organization.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for the repose of his soul on Saturday, November 1 at 10:30 a.m. at Nativity Catholic Church in Brandon, FL. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to Mass. Interment will follow later at the Ruiz-Herrea Cemetery, in Somerset, Texas.
