A 44-year-old Orlando woman was killed on Sunday morning after she lost control of her car and crashed into a utility pole in Volusia County.
The fatal single-vehicle crash occurred at around 4:25 a.m. on Sunday, November 2, near the intersection of State Road 415 and Rasley Road In New Smyrna Beach, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
The woman was traveling southbound on State Road 415 in a Nissan Sentra when she approached the intersection of Rasley Road. The report stated that for unknown reasons, she lost control of the vehicle and veered off the roadway to the left.
The Nissan proceeded to travel across the northbound lanes and onto the shoulder, where it collided with a utility pole.
The woman sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on-scene. It is unknown if she was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, according to the report.
The crash remains under investigation.
