A fight at a bar in Volusia County ended in a fatal shooting early Sunday morning.
At around 1:10 a.m. on Tuesday, November 2, Daytona Beach Police Department officers responded to the area of Goodall Avenue and South Grandview Avenue after receiving reports of a person being shot, according to DBPD.
When officers arrived on-scene, they found a male victim, later identified as 23-year-old Anthony Chrun, who was unconscious in the front seat of his vehicle with an apparent gunshot wound. The officers immediately began administering life-saving measures until paramedics arrived on scene.
Despite the efforts of first responders, Chrun succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
While investigating the incident, officers located and detained the suspected shooter. “The individual’s name will not be released at this time,” said DBPD in a media release on Tuesday, November 4.
The police department stated that its detectives have identified all parties involved in the deadly shooting, and law enforcement is working closely with the State Attorney’s Office as the investigation continues.
According to DBPD, detectives believe that Chrun and the suspected shooter got into an earlier altercation at a nearby bar on the night of the incident.
The suspected shooter was released from custody on November 2, though the State Attorney’s Office is currently reviewing the incident.
DBPD stated that there is no threat to the community, and the investigation into the deadly shooting remains “active and ongoing.”
