An Orlando man was killed on Saturday morning after the motorcycle he was riding was struck by a sport utility vehicle at a local intersection.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, the fatal crash occurred at around 6:55 a.m. on Saturday, November 8, at the intersection of N Hiawassee Road and Hiawassee Meadows Drive in Orlando.
A trooper noted that a 61-year-old Orlando woman was heading westbound on Hiawassee Meadow Drive in a 2023 Jeep Compass when she approached the intersection of Hiawassee Road.
At the same time, a 20-year-old Orlando man was riding a 2008 Ducati superbike northbound on Hiawassee Road, south of Hiawassee Meadows Drive.
The report stated that the Jeep’s driver attempted to make a left turn onto Hiawassee Road. As the vehicle headed into the intersection, it proceeded to enter the direct path of the motorcycle, resulting in a collision.
The motorcyclist was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.
The driver of the Jeep was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation, according to FHP.
