A 21-year-old Kissimmee woman is in critical condition following a hit-and-run crash on U.S. 192 in Osceola County on Sunday night.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred shortly after 11:05 p.m. on Sunday, November 16, at the intersection of U.S. 192 (W Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway) and Four Winds Boulevard in Kissimmee.
FHP stated that an unknown vehicle was traveling westbound on U.S. 192, east of Four Winds Boulevard, in the center lane. At the same time, the Kissimmee woman was walking northbound when she stepped onto the westbound lanes of U.S. 192.
The woman proceeded to walk into the direct path of the unknown vehicle, and a collision ensued. After striking the woman, the vehicle fled from the scene, heading westbound on U.S. 192.
Paramedics transported the woman to a local hospital for treatment of critical injuries.
An FHP trooper noted in a preliminary report that the woman was not in a marked crosswalk at the time of the collision.
The crash remains under investigation. No further details were provided by FHP regarding the hit-and-run vehicle or driver involved.
