A 47-year-old Kissimmee man has been arrested on multiple charges after he allegedly used the dark web to purchase child sexual abuse material.
According to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, an investigation was launched after a cyber tip was received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The tip alleged that an individual in Osceola County, later identified as Janderson Freitas-Leite, had used Bitcoin to acquire the child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
On Friday, November 14, detectives with OCSO’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit executed a search warrant at Freitas-Leite’s apartment located at The Teale Apartments in Kissimmee. The detectives made contact with Freitas-Leite, and they also seized multiple electronic devices belonging to him.
OCSO stated that after conducting a forensic review of Freitas-Leite’s electronic devices, probable cause was established for his arrest. On Thursday, November 20, Freitas-Leite was placed under arrest and booked into Orange County Jail.
Freitas-Leite remains in custody without bond, and he is facing the following charges: eight counts of possession of photo/video of sexual performance by a child and one count of unlawful use of a two-way communication device.
“The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to protecting our community and enhancing public safety,” said the agency in a social media post.
