A man who pleaded guilty to distributing methamphetamine in Brevard County has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison.
On Tuesday, Senior U.S. District Judge Roy B. Dalton, Jr. sentenced 39-year-old Cocoa resident Demetric Antwan Swinton to 15 years’ imprisonment for distributing methamphetamine.
Swinton had entered a guilty plea in August.
According to court records, the Drug Enforcement Administration and Brevard County Sheriff’s Office identified Swinton as a “methamphetamine source operating in Brevard County.”
Both agencies used a confidential source to conduct two controlled purchases of more than a pound of methamphetamine from Swinton.
A search warrant was then obtained and executed at Swinton’s home, which resulted in additional methamphetamine, cocaine, and “drug processing materials” being seized by law enforcement officers.
In total, approximately 1,750 grams of pure methamphetamine and over 50 grams of cocaine were found in Swinton’s possession.
This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and Brevard County Sheriff’s Office. It was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Megan Testerman.
