A 68-year-old Titusville man was arrested after he allegedly offered to pay a 15-year-old boy $200 for a sexual act.

On Thursday, January 1, at around 1:40 p.m., Cocoa Beach Police Department officers responded to the area of N Atlantic Avenue and Cocoa Isles Boulevard in reference to an “inappropriate interaction” between an older man and a 15-year-old boy, according to CBPD.

The police department stated that an investigation revealed that a man, identified as David John Roth, had allegedly approached the boy and offered him $200. In exchange, Roth allegedly told the boy that he would perform a sexual act in front of the boy at a local park.

According to Cocoa Beach police, the boy refused the offer, and a passerby who saw the incident intervened after noticing that the boy “appeared uncomfortable.”

Roth proceeded to enter a tan-colored Buick sedan, and he drove away from the incident location.

Law enforcement officers located Roth’s vehicle in Titusville, and a traffic stop was conducted. He was positively identified as the suspect in this case, and he was placed under arrest and booked into Brevard County Jail.

Roth remains in custody without bond, and he is facing a second-degree felony charge of lewd or lascivious conduct.

The case remains under investigation.
