A former Volusia County teacher has been arrested on drug trafficking charges after a large amount of fentanyl was allegedly found in an apartment that she shared with a known drug dealer.

On Friday, January 23, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at a local apartment, where they made contact with 40-year-old Amber Lee Williamson and 28-year-old Marcus Patrick Plowden.

The sheriff’s office stated that an investigation led by the Port Orange Police Department had identified Williamson as a “dealer in multiple narcotics sales,” resulting in the search warrant being executed at her apartment.

During the search of the apartment, VCSO deputies allegedly found “trafficking amounts of fentanyl.”

Williamson and Plowden were placed under arrest and booked into Volusia County Jail. They are both facing armed drug trafficking charges.

At the time of Williamson’s arrest, she worked as a teacher at Richard Milburn Academy (1200 Deltona Boulevard, Suite 53, in Deltona). School officials have confirmed that Williamson’s employment has been terminated.

Prior to becoming a teacher, Williamson joined the Daytona Beach Police Department in 2009, where she served as a police officer for 10 years.
