Note: In an update at 5 p.m. on Monday, the Florida Highway Patrol stated that all lanes of I-95, between mile marker 166 and mile marker 173, have been reopened.

A seven-mile stretch of Interstate 95 has been shut down in Brevard County due to a large brush fire in the area.

Shortly after 1 p.m. on Monday, February 2, the Florida Highway Patrol stated that due to smoke from the fire, I-95 is closed between mile marker 166 (Saint John’s Heritage Parkway) and mile marker 173 (Malabar Road) in Brevard County.

FHP troopers have blocked the roadway while they monitor the brush fire.

“Drivers are advised to avoid the area until further notice,” said an FHP trooper in a media release.

No further details were provided by FHP.
