An 18-year-old horse named Alessandro has officially retired from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office mounted unit.
On Wednesday, February 4, OCSO announced that Alessandro is “heading into a well-earned retirement at the 10-42 Police Retirement Home in Trenton, Florida, where he’ll be living with three other horses and enjoying a life of relaxation.”
Back in 2018, Alessandro joined OCSO’s mounted unit, where he took part in light neighborhood patrols and helped train deputies who were learning how to ride horses.
In a social media post, OCSO referred to Alessandro as “a true lover with a big personality” who “adores attention” and spending time with the mares. He also loves interacting with people, especially when treats are involved.
“Thank you, Alessandro, for your service and the joy you brought to our community,” said OCSO. “Enjoy retirement, you’ve earned it!”
