The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office is searching for two individuals who allegedly struck and injured a five-year-old child on a local beach while riding an electric bike.
The incident happened in the afternoon on Saturday, February 21, just north of Sun Splay Park in Daytona Beach, according to VCSO.
The sheriff’s office advised that the child was heading toward the water to fill up his beach bucket when an e-bike hit him.
Several witnesses told investigators that two teenagers, male and female, were on the e-bike at the time of the collision, and they both allegedly stopped briefly to apologize to the child before fleeing from the area.
The child was taken to a local hospital for a medical evaluation, which revealed that only minor injuries were sustained.
No further details were provided by VCSO.
If anyone has information regarding this incident or the identity of the e-bike’s riders, please contact VCSO Deputy Bissonnette via phone (386-239-6414) or email ([email protected]).
