A 45-year-old man died early Saturday morning after the motorcycle he was riding struck a guardrail on State Road 408 in Orange County.  

At around 1:23 a.m. on Saturday, February 28, the motorcyclist was traveling westbound on SR 408, near mile marker 22, in the outside lane, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

For an unknown reason, the motorcycle proceeded to veer off the roadway to the left, where it collided with the guardrail.

The rider was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

An FHP trooper said in the report that it is unknown if the rider was wearing a helmet when the crash occurred.

The accident remains under investigation, according to FHP.
