The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting outside a local bar that claimed the life of a 22-year-old man on Sunday.

At around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 1, BCSO deputies responded to Ace’s Bar (1505 W King Street in Cocoa) after a 911 caller reported a shooting incident, according to the sheriff’s office.

When deputies arrived at the bar, they found an adult male victim who had sustained gunshot wounds. Deputies and paramedics immediately rendered aid before transporting the victim to Holmes Regional Medical Center.

BCSO stated that the victim – later identified as 22-year-old Vero Beach resident J’Lyn Gordon – succumbed to his injuries at the hospital and was pronounced deceased by medical staff.

After conducting a preliminary investigation, BCSO detectives determined that the shooting occurred in the parking lot of Ace’s Bar.

“This remains an active and ongoing investigation and no arrests have been made at this time,” said BCSO in a media release. No further details regarding the shooting were provided by the agency.
