A DeLand man, who tried to entice a 13-year-old girl to send him photos depicting her own sexual abuse, will spend at least 15 years behind bars.

On Thursday, 38-year-old Shane Christopher Abrams pleaded guilty to attempting to entice a 13-year-old child to produce and send him child sexual abuse material.

Court records show that on April 3, 2024, an undercover Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agent posing as a 13-year-old girl began communicating on a social media application with a user named “Malicious_Malediction.”

This user was later identified as Abrams.

During the conversation, the “girl” informed Abrams that she was 13 years old. Abrams then proceeded to ask “inappropriate questions about her body.”

The following day, Abrams and the “girl” began communicating via text messages, and numerous messages were exchanged between April 4 and April 20, 2024.

Abrams repeatedly asked for the “girl” to send him “photos of her genitalia” while providing “explicit instructions as to how to comply with his demands.”

In addition, Abrams sent the “girl” several files, including photos and a video, that were sexually explicit.

On May 20, 2024, FBI agents made contact with Abrams in a parking lot near his workplace in South Daytona, and he was placed under arrest.

A sentencing hearing for Abrams is scheduled to take place on June 25, 2026. He is facing a minimum penalty of 15 years, up to 30 years, in federal prison, as well as a potential life term of supervised release.

This case was investigated by the FBI and the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.
