A motorcyclist was killed on Saturday evening in a fiery collision on Colonial Drive in Orange County.

Shortly before 7:25 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, two vehicles – a 2007 Buick Lucerne car and 2006 Suzuki GSX-R1000 motorcycle – were traveling on Colonial Drive, near the intersection of Taylor Creek Road, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The report stated that the Buick was heading eastbound on Colonial Drive when it approached Taylor Creek Road. The car then entered the oncoming lanes while attempting to turn into a private driveway.

At the same time, the Suzuki was traveling westbound on Colonial Drive in the outside lane.

According to the report, the Buick entered the direct path of the Suzuki, resulting in a head-on collision. After the initial impact, the Suzuki’s rider – identified as a 39-year-old Christmas man – was thrown from the motorcycle as both vehicles caught fire.

The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident. The Buick’s driver and sole occupant, a 67-year-old Oviedo Man, was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation, according to FHP.
