Boone High School was briefly placed on lockdown Wednesday morning while Orlando police investigated reports of an armed individual in the area.
According to the Orlando Police Department, officers responded to Boone High School (1000 E Kaley Street in Orlando) on Wednesday, April 1, after the agency received a call regarding a “suspicious armed person outside the campus.”
OPD stated that Boone High School was placed on lockdown as a precaution while officers thoroughly searched the area.
Blankner School, which is located near Boone High School, was also “placed on a secure status” while OPD officers conducted an investigation.
During OPD’s search of both school campuses and the surrounding area, officers did not locate any suspicious individuals or threats. As a result, the lockdowns were both lifted.
In an update on social media, OPD stated that it “appreciates the cooperation of students, staff, and parents as officers worked to ensure everyone’s safety.”
